What is Bhringraj?
Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata) grows in damp areas across South Asia. The leaves are infused into oil, which turns a dark green-black colour.
What does Bhringraj do for hair?
- Nourishes the scalp during massage
- Helps strengthen hair and reduce breakage
- Adds gloss to dull hair
- Classic partner to amla in desi oils
What does the research say?
Some animal and lab studies suggest bhringraj extract may support hair growth, but human studies are scarce. Use it as traditional nourishing care.
How do you use Bhringraj on hair?
- Massage a bhringraj blend into the scalp for 5–10 minutes.
- Leave for 2 hours or overnight.
- Wash with a herbal shampoo. Repeat 1–2 times a week.
Who should be careful?
- The dark oil can stain pillowcases and light fabric.
- Patch test first if you have sensitive skin.
